ProveSource offers a flexible filtering system to exclude specific names, email addresses, and IP addresses or ranges from being tracked and shown as notifications. This is useful for testing or filtering out spam events.

You can find these options under Settings > Notifications.

Configuring Filters

  • Name Filters: In the 'Exclude names' section, enter names or phrases you want to exclude. Name filtering works on a "contain" basis, so entering "Tes" will exclude "Test," "Testing," etc. (case insensitive)

  • Email Filters: In the 'Exclude emails' section, enter email addresses or domains you want to exclude. Email filtering also works on a "contain" basis. For instance, entering @mycompany.com will exclude all emails from that domain (case insensitive).

  • Review Text Filter: if a review contains these words or phrases it will be excluded displaying, this filter is case insensitive.

  • IP Address Filters: In the 'Exclude IP Ranges' section, enter the IP addresses or ranges you want to exclude. You can enter single IP addresses (e.g., 192.168.1.1), ranges (e.g., 10.0.0.0-10.0.0.255), or subnets (e.g., 10.0.0.0/24).

Practical Use Cases

  • Testing: Exclude your own email and IP address to avoid test notifications.

  • Spam Filtering: Exclude common curse words or spam names and emailsto keep notifications relevant.

Tips

  • Use Specific Filters: Be precise with the names, emails, and IP addresses you exclude to avoid filtering out valid data (you will also see if events are filtered in the events Feed)

  • Regular Updates: Review and update your filters periodically to ensure they remain relevant and effective.

By effectively utilizing these filters, you can ensure your ProveSource notifications remain accurate and useful, providing clear insights into genuine user activities.
